| Abstract: | The animal or tractor power is only used for ploughing or ridge making for cultivation of vegetable crops. The remaining operations like sowing/planting, transplanting, weeding, spraying, harvesting and packaging are done by manual labour. The labour is costly and shortage of labour makes it difficult to complete the operations in time. Some of the operations like sowing of rainfed onion are done by broadcasting, which reduces the yield and the quality of the crop. The requirement of mechanization of fruit and vegetable crops is different and is discussed here. |
