|Abstract: ||Thirty seven accessions of Psidium guajava and six Psidium species were studies four dimensions weight, volume, length, breadth, TSS, titrable acidity, skin colour and pulp colour. The variety Kamsari was found to have maximum fruit weight. The TSS was maximum in the variety Bangalore Local (12.70o Brix), however this variety has hard seeds. In most of the varieties, the skin colour was yellow and varieties like Apple Colour and Chittidar had spots on the skin. The varieties Beaumont, EC-147039, 147037, 162904, 147036,147034, G-6, Kamsari, Pati, Portugal, Red Flesh were found to have pink to red flesh colour. The evaluation of species showed that the species P. quadrangularis and P. guinees produced big sized fruits. The TSS was maximum in the species P. friendrichsthaliaum. The hybridization programme carried out has result in the isolation of one superior red fleshed variety H-21.|
