|Abstract: ||In mango, wild species have not been used in the breeding programme for want of information on their crossability. Varietal variation in flowering hinders crossing of different varieties with desirable varieties due to non-availability of pollen. To draw information on the crossability of wild species, crosses were carried out using Mangifera odorata and M. zeylanica. Inter-varietal and interspecific crossings were carried out using cryopreserved and fresh pollen. The results indicated that the species M. odorata and M. zeylanica are cross compatible with M. indica. The per cent fruit set was observed to be 33.64% and 24.78% for M. odorata and M. zeylanica, respectively using stored pollen with Arka Anmol as the female parent. Among the M. indica cultivars, the fruit set ranged from 12.4 to 58.06% by use of cryopreserved pollen.|
