|Abstract: ||Neer vazhai of 'Nendran' banana is a malady of unknown etiology characterized by a total failure of fruit development after emergence. The incidence of the malady varies from 2-4% in some parts of Tamil Nadu and poses a significant threat to cultivation of 'Nendran' banana since this variety is already affected by two serious viral diseases and s highly susceptible to nematode infestation. The malady is transmitted by suckers obtained from affected mother plants. The malady appears to be a physiological disorder and therefore the present investigation was taken up with the objective of studying the differences in growth attributes, flowering behaviour and photosynthetic properties of healthy and Neer vazhai affected plants.|
